Rice production will increase in Assam Bihar millions of tons imported
The country has the potential to produce a record amount of rice this year. Compared to last year, rice production may increase by about 2 percent to 3 crores 73 lakh 20 thousand tons. Even then, 1 crore 5 lakh tonnes of rice, wheat, and maize will have to be imported this year. Wheat imports will be difficult due to the Russia-Ukraine war. You may have to pay more.
A report by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) on granular food production in Bangladesh provides this information. According to a report published last Thursday, Bangladesh may face problems in importing phosphate fertilizer in the coming aman season. This is because Bangladesh usually imports 30% of its phosphate fertilizer from Russia. On the other hand, 40 percent of the total wheat imports come from Russia and Ukraine. These two products cannot be imported from these two countries at present. These have to be imported from other countries as an alternative, but prices are rising fast there as well.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) said in a report on Friday that food prices have risen in the world market. The highest food prices in the world since 1990 were in March. Food prices may rise further in April. This is going to endanger a huge number of poor people in the world. Another FAO report states that food prices are rising rapidly in Bangladesh as well.
The FAO’s director-general said in a statement earlier this month that the war between Russia and Ukraine had raised fears of rising food prices around the world. He said six countries, including Bangladesh and Egypt, could be in greater danger.
