Transaction without touch on BD Al-Arafah Bank card

Transactions can be done on Al-Arafah Islami Bank card without inserting the card in the machine. The bank has launched the first contactless Islamic debit and prepaid card in the country through MasterCard. The card was unveiled at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday.

Customers of Al-Arafah Islami Bank will now be able to make transactions at merchant outlets up to Tk 3,000 at a time without touching the new card. Customers can transact through a simple tap without a PIN without inserting a card in the POS.

In addition, cardholders will be able to make safe online payments as well as withdraw money from ATM booths round the clock. Customers of Al-Arafah Bank will get a free offer by purchasing one of the more than five and a half thousand partner outlets of MasterCard in Bangladesh from hotels, food shops and lifestyle shops.

Bangladesh Bank Payment Systems Department General Manager was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the new service. Mejbaul Haque. Mastercard’s South Asia Chief Operating Officer Vikas Verma took part in the event online. Also present on the occasion were Farman R Chowdhury, Managing Director of Al-Arafah Bank, Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager of MasterCard Bangladesh and senior officials of both the companies.
