Minister of Information and Broadcasting Hasan Mahmud has commented that mechanization has brought incredible changes in agriculture. He said, “every year 20 to 22 lakh people increase in the country, 2 lakh acres of agricultural land decreases. However, we are self-sufficient in food and also export agricultural products.

The information minister said this while addressing the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the three-day agricultural technology fair in Chittagong’s Rangunia on Wednesday afternoon. The Information Minister said that in the last 10 years, 90 percent of agriculture has been mechanized in the country. As a result, export of agricultural products earns more than one billion dollars annually. The government plans to increase it further in the future.

Under the Noakhali, Feni, Laxmipur, Chittagong and Chandpur Agricultural Development Project, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jamshedul Alam presided over the event organized by Upazila Agriculture Extension Directorate at Rangunia Upazila Parishad Auditorium.

Hasan Mahmud said, in fact, the success that Bangladesh has been able to show in terms of agricultural production under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina, is incredible and an example for the whole world. Bangladesh is the 92nd largest country in the world. But Bangladesh ranks third in rice and freshwater fish production, fourth in vegetable production and seventh in potato production.

Stating that there are many fallow agricultural lands in Rangunia, the Information Minister said, ‘It is possible to produce various types of agricultural products starting from vegetables in these fallow farmlands. It is natural that our agricultural products will go from here to all over the country or all over Chittagong. But now the opposite is happening. Therefore, I urge you to take a plan keeping in mind the next winter season.

Referring to the ongoing food crisis in the world, Hasan Mahmud said that there is a crisis going on in the world now. There is also a food crisis in the world. Because, the Russia-Ukraine war; The corona epidemic is not over yet. It cannot be said that there will be an epidemic again. Therefore, the Prime Minister urged that not even an inch of land in the country remains uncultivated.
