BSNL 4G services in the Assam state

The Center had promised to help launch 4G services in the revival project announced two and a half years ago to revive the ailing BSNL.
The center and BSNL authorities aim to bring 4G service by next August. For that, the work of making parts based on indigenous technology has started. Of the 6,000 BTS (tower, antenna-based infrastructure) equipment ordered by BSNL headquarters to launch the pilot service in the first phase, 300 have been allocated for the company’s West Bengal Circle (responsible for the rest of the state except Greater Kolkata). Nothing has yet been allocated for the Calcutta Telephones (Caltel) Circle in Greater Kolkata. However, they are also preparing to build 4G infrastructure.

The Center had promised to help launch 4G services in the revival project announced two and a half years ago to revive the ailing BSNL. But the complaint is that the work has not progressed for a long time. Now that the rival telecom companies are pushing for 5G, BSNL has started moving towards 4G. TCS and Tejas, another Tata group company, have teamed up with state-owned research firm C Dot to create the native 4G technology. They are also making necessary instruments based on it. 6000 BTS devices are being purchased for experimental use.

According to company sources, the state circle will get 300 BTS devices. Circle sources indicate that they will be initially set up in East and West Midnapore, Bankura, Purulia, Murshidabad, Nadia, Birbhum, and some parts of the two 24 Parganas, Howrah and Hughli, excluding Caltel. The most densely populated areas, where optical fiber connections are easily available, are being identified. The core infrastructure for providing 4G services will be in Durgapur. The circle hopes that the test service will be launched in a month and a half if the instruments are matched in May-June and everything goes well. As a precautionary measure, the current customer is being given 4G instead of 3G SIM for free.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. However, sources said that the main 4G service management center will be in Salt Lake, the company’s mobile service management center. The core infrastructure or core system will sit there. That work will begin soon.
