AB Party protests in the capital to demand the resignation of the government

AB Party (My Bangladesh Party) held a protest against the increase in the price of daily commodities including fuel oil and demanding the resignation of the government. The procession left the party’s central office at Vijaynagar in the capital at around 3 o’clock today, went through various roads and ended in front of the National Press Club. Later they held a rally there.

In the rally, AB Party convener AFM Solaiman Chowdhury called for an immediate reduction in the prices of all essential items. He said that the government has resorted to cheating the people by increasing the price of fuel in the dark of night. Oil prices are falling in the international market. The price of oil in the country’s market should be reduced immediately, the price of all things should be reduced. Otherwise the people will be forced to join the movement to overthrow the government.

He said that the government has destabilized the country’s economy through corruption, looting and dollar smuggling. As a result, the common people of the country have suffered. On the other hand, the government has disappeared and detained many citizens without trial for years. Today, the whole country has become a ‘mirror house’ through the repression of people of opposing views.

Asaduzzaman Fuad, joint member secretary of the party, said, “A government that cannot ensure people’s food, cannot provide road safety, kills people under the girder of development – they have no right to be in power.”
